Matte Spirit Gum Adhesive has been used for decades to adhere latex and wax appliances securely to skin as well as all kinds of false hair applications. The great thing about it is that it is sweat and moisture proof, so it’s very dependable in wear. It’s considered a mild grade skin safe glue that isn’t heavy on skin and very easy to remove. Best of all it dries down completely matte.
Here are some basic directions in using this adhesive effectively: simply brush spirit gum on the area where you want to glue hair or an appliance. Then lay your application (hair, prosthetic, mustache/beard, bald cap, etc.) down on the applied adhesive. Press it down gently then lift back, doing this about 3 – 5 times, allowing both surfaces to become tacky. Then apply it down securely, while smoothing any edges down with a makeup spatula. Alternatively, you can apply the spirit gum adhesive directly to skin and then tap it directly with finger until it becomes tacky and slightly stringy. Then hold or press appliance or hair piece against the adhesive area on skin (about 10 seconds) to apply securely.
PRO TIP: Pour out an amount of spirit gum that you will want to use for your application into a Disposable Mini Mixing Bowl, Allow it to sit exposed to the air about 20 minutes or so before you begin using it. This allows the alcohol in the resin to evaporate, leaving just the sticky resin glue part to use. This will help speed up the application of your appliance.
Avoid any spirit gum adhesive contact with eyes. Do not attempt to pull appliance or hair piece directly from skin once the glue has dried as you can damage skin! Detach and remove only with Mehron Spirit Gum Remover, for safe removal from skin.
